Two Peas In A Pod...These two have really enjoyed playing with each other. The sweetest sound a person can hear is two little girls giggling at each other.
"Don't worry, Little Buddy, I'll teach you everything you need to know to drive this car."
We just got back from our family vacation this week. Even though we had a pretty rough start, we were able to relax and enjoy being with family. It did rain 4 days while we were there (3 of those days we were supposed to be at the beach) but we got in LOTS of shopping. Crista was a trooper and did amazingly well being off her normal schedule. I tell ya, she is the best kid to travel with, just goes with the flow with a grin on her face. Here are some pictures from our time in Georgia.
"Excuse me, Sir, can you tell me which way to my Grandpa and Grandma's house?"
"Sure seems like a long way to me. There's got to be a quicker way!"
I mentioned earlier that we had a rough start to our vacation. The first morning of vacation, I woke up at 4:30am so I would be ready to walk out the door at 6:50 sharp to make our flight. I had just started putting my makeup on, hair still wet, when I heard a strange sound. By "strange" I mean, "scary". I opened the bathroom door to find Jake holding his hand, just looking at it. That's when I noticed the blood dripping onto our carpet. I immediately said, "Jake! You're bleeding! Get to the sink!" I'm ashamed to admit that I was not polite about my request. I didn't have time to clean the carpet today. I turned the water on his finger and then realized this was no little scrape. A band-aid wouldn't cut it. I looked at Jake, noticed how white he had turned, and made him sit down on the bathroom floor before he passed out. I called a friend and she came over to stay with Crista (thank you Glenna!!) while I rushed Jake to the hospital. Jake told me on the way to the hospital that he was trying to turn on the overhead light, attached to the ceiling fan, and reached up too far. His hand hit the fan blade which pushed his finger down on a decorative metal piece which impaled his finger. After a tetanus shot and 4 stitches, we were on our way home. We just figured there was no way to make our 9:15 flight so I called to get on the next flight out. The only problem was they wanted $700 a piece to change our flight! There was NO way we could afford that so we decided to try and make it. We jumped in the car, me with no makeup and wet hair, Jake with no morning shower, and Crista with her wild hair unbrushed (thank goodness she had eaten breakfast and was dressed by the time we got home from the ER-thanks again Glenna!) So to make this long story longer, we had about an hour and 10 minutes to make it to the airport (usually a 45 min drive), through the end of rush hour traffic, during the "Super 70" construction project, and I was driving (I'm known for going about 5 mph UNDER the speed limit). We RAN into the airport and I frantically ask the lady if we've missed our flight. She told me to calm down and said they hadn't even started boarding yet. She actually told us to go grab a bite to eat (we didn't!). We made it through security and to our gate with 10 minutes to spare! Praise GOD!!
So, that's how our vacation started. In the mad rush to the ER, I forgot to take my camera so I don't have any pictures of Jake's finger but I did take some of the ceiling fan that I have a newfound respect for.
The curved metal piece on the bottom is what impaled Jake's finger.
"We almost didn't make it....
...but we did! Whew!"
And it has absolutely nothing to do with Uncle Marcus!
Sunday Pictures...
Where's Crista??
I don't know why parents always torture their kids this way, but isn't it funny giving your child a lemon for the first time?
From L-R
Hannah is holding Tucker, Chase, Crista, and Holden is holding Hayden
I'm not sure what Uncle Preston is telling Crista but she had made it clear that she
doesn't want to hear it!
There's nothing better that kicking back with a lukewarm one after a hard day of playing!
Crista's first taste of Uncle Walter's grilled ribs...
I think she really liked them! 6 on her tray, one in her hand!
Our last day in Georgia...
"What do you mean "I" have to go home?"
"Let me tell you a secret...Grandma said I can stay with her!"
"What? I HAVE to go with Mama and Daddy? I can't work with you people!"
I bet Uncle Marcus will let me stay..right? Uncle Marcus???
"Whatever, I'll go. But ONLY because Mamaw and Papaw's taking me to Chicago's tonight!"
Crista bounced right back once we got home. She loves our backyard and all the room to run and play and explore.
She also likes to explore our bedroom closet!
Anything for a granddaughter. How many Papaw's play dres-up with their princess grandaughters? Crista's got a keeper!
What a beautiful child we are blessed with! This baby girl makes our life worth living!
