It's Been Awhile...

Welcome Back!

So much has happened since our last blog entry! Between a fender bender (not our fault!), a fish fry fundraiser for Crista (adoptions are expensive!), a fussy baby with a recurring low-grade temp, and welcoming Reese back for another school year, it's been BUSY! I hope to make it up to you with lots of pictures though!

It's a Picture Parade!

On Friday, August 17, Jake's great-uncle gave us a wonderful gift. A fish fry fundraiser to offset the cost of Crist'a adoption. International adoptions can be quite costly and we have been working very hard at paying off our loan. The fish fry was a huge success and we had somewhere around 400 people come to support us (well, maybe they came for Uncle John's good fish too!). The total amout made from this fish fry was.......$5,000.00! WOW! Needless to say, we were shocked! Thanks to everyone who helped us out by working and donating!

Here are a few pictures from the fish fry. It was a wonderful evening!

"You people are #1 in my book!"

By the end of the evening we were all exhausted! All Crista wanted was Teddy Love, a bottle, and her Mamaw. It was a long day and hard work, but what a blessing the fish fry was for us!

Crista's new thing is climbing. She loves to climb on anything! Watch how she gets into her walker...and I love how she stops halfway to eat a snack!

And here's some pictures showing Crista getting into her new ride. She's become a pro at getting into the car, but still working on getting out of it!

And that's how its done. Easy Peasy!

Not only is she climbing in her walker and car, she also climbing...
UP things...

ON TOP of things...

and INTO things!

Here's Crista with her friends...
L-R Crista, Reese, Alyssa, Brooke
Aren't they all precious!

Have you ever got that sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach when you're doing dishes and suddenly realize your child has been too quiet for too long?! That happened just this week and knowing how quickly Crista can get into things, I immediately rushed into her bedroom and found this....

My little angel girl wasn't getting into trouble, she was reading her books! Whew! Crisis avoided!!

Another new thing Crista has learned this week...

She loves this yogurt in a tube! She even learned how to feed it to herself-kinda hard since you have to squeeze the yogurt to the top. But she loves it!

Just a moment to brag on Crista: I was reading in my Parent's magazine about toddlers feeding themselves. It said, "Although many kids can hold a spoon by the time they're one, most wont be able to maneuver food into their mouth until their motor skills improve" around 15-20 months old. I'm proud to say that if load up her little plastic fork, Crista takes the fork from us and feeds herself with it! Then she'll give the fork back to me or Jake to load up again! She loves feeding herself with a fork and is really good at it, never misses!

Crista's been running a low-grade temp all week. I finally took her to the doctor on Thursday and he says she's getting one of her molars in. Poor baby! She's been so fussy this week and you can tell she just hasn't felt good. But she's a trooper, still wanting to play outside. You can tell in this picture she just isn't herself.

Good-bye for now. Ya'll come back now!
