Let It (not) Snow, Let It (not) Snow, Let It (not) Snow!!

From the title of this week's blog, I bet you can guess that it snowed here this week, TWICE! But I'll talk about that in a bit...

This week I've been a bad Mama. I hardly got the camera out at all! I've been so busy working on Crista's Christmas dress that I haven't had much time for anything else. I'm proud to say that it is finished and I'll post pictures of it on a later post.

Jake and I have discussed that we need to get healthier. So we pulled out our old stair stepper from the barn. Jake's been really good, excercising almost everyday! We won't talk about how often I've used it! Since its been in storage for a while, Jake needed to do some general maintainence on it. And as usual, Crista thought it necessary to "help" her Daddy.

"I'm such a good helper! Got my tools all ready!"

"What's the problem here, Daddy?"

"Here, let me do it."

"You work down there, I'll be working on pushing these buttons."

"And now I'll help you excercise!"

"It's not so easy doing it by yourself!"

"Now this is what I call excercising!"

The girls were good again this week. Crista was getting over a runny nose and Reese had a cough and runny nose so I made them a tent to play in. They had a good time in it but you can tell they both don't feel too good here.

When I was in 3rd and 4th grades, my Sunday School teachers had a special tradition at Christmas...we made homemade ornaments! They're made of cinnamon and applesauce and smell so good! I kept my ornaments until they crumbled several years back. Since I have such fond memories of making them, I wanted to pass it along to the girls. So I got out the ingredients and we made ornaments! We had a great time and the whole house smelled wonderful!!

These are our finished products, heading to the oven! They really turned out great!!

So the inevitable finally happened...it snowed! I was curious how Crista would react to it since she was too little last year to understand. I was really careful that she didn't see it until I had my camera ready, I wanted to catch her first reaction. I walked over to the front window and told Crista to look as I opened the drapes. Her reaction: She looked at me, looked out the window, turned around and went to play. It didn't phase her at all! I was thinking I'd get a "WOW!" or "OOHHH!" or even just a grin. But I got nothing!

We actually got snow twice this week. Both times getting around 3 inches. So the roads are slushy, and the sidewalks are slick, but I have to admit, I forgot how beautiful that first snowfall of the year is!

Crista's first outing in the snow. Guess she likes it about as much as I do!

COME ON SPRING!!!
