I'm running about a week behind on my updates. I had a terrible sinus infection and Crista is still having tummy troubles so we both went to the Dr this week. I'm still thinking Crista's tummy problems are from her teeth. I checked again this week and she's got 6 new teeth in the last month! All 4 molars have come through and 2 eye teeth. But just to be on the safe side, Crista's Dr wanted us to take stool samples and have it checked. Not the most fun part of being a mom, but it was necessary. We're still waiting to hear the results and I'll post them when I find out something.
Last Saturday, September 22, marked a very big day in the Brown house. On that day Crista was in our arms longer than she was in Guatemala! The first seven months of waiting for Crista seemed to take forever, every day dragging on. But these past seven months have gone so quickly, every day filled with laughter, smiles, and constant babble. We are so blessed to have this little one in our lives and we know she was hand picked by God to fit so perfectly in our lives!
Crista had another first last week...her first haircut! She was sporting a mullet and I couldn't take it anymore! Crista did very well. She sat like a big girl in the chair and let Teresa snip away. Here are some pictures of the big day!
Just hanging around...
Father & Daughter. They are the perfect pair! Crista really loves her Daddy and they have so much fun together in the evenings while waiting on supper...
In the past week we've put the little potty chair in Crista's bathroom. She's not nearly ready to be potty trained but she is very interested in it. Everytime Reese sits on the big potty, Crista sits on the little potty. And everynight at bathtime, once she's stripped, she likes to sit on her little potty. I got a few pictures because she's so cute!
Aw, come on Mom, a little privacy, please!
How's a girl supposed to go with all those flashes going off?!
Anytime I'm in the kitchen, Crista wants to be involved too. She loves getting bowls, spatulas, and whisks and stirring up a pretend meal. I caught her one day, making supper with her beads on. How very Donna Reed! She's a housewife in training!
I wondered how long it would take Crista to realize she can do this...
And it didn't take Reese long to catch on either...
Apparently they didn't like the prior arrangements...
Crista and her Mamaw.
We've had quite a time in the past week trying to get bikes for the family. I started off last Saturday buying a bike for Jake, with the intentions of getting the matching women's bike for me. On Sunday we returned it because we decided to get a different style. So we take home two more matching bikes, ride them around the block, and decide we didn't like those, either. In the meantime, Crista found her bike seat and LOVED sitting in it (see above picture). On Tuesday, we found the bikes we wanted (they don't match) but the lovely bike seat won't fit that type of bike. So the bike seat gets returned. Finally, yesterday evening, we arrive home with our 2 bikes (that we're gonna keep) with a baby seat already attached! We took our first family ride this afternoon after getting helmets for the entire family. I'll try to post some pictures next week. Crista loves her seat and squealed with delight as we rode through the neighborhood!
Have a wonderful week!
