Saturday Surprise

This morning the whole house
slept til 8am!
I hurried Crista through breakfast
and told her to put on some shorts
because if we were going to
play outside today,
we'd have to do it quick.
Rain and storms were forcasted for all day.
I think she brushed her teeth
and I know
her hair didn't get brushed...
but who cares when you're 2 and you're in the backyard playing?
Crista played hard for a while
until we decided to check on the garden to see what's growing.
To our surprise
the beans were needing a picking...
our first picking of the season!
Crista was a great helper and
loved getting her feet muddy with Mama's.
We had a decent picking, enough to can 5 quarts!
Yea!

Then we thought to check on the carrots.
Again, we were surprised at how much they've grown.
Not quite ready for a harvest,
but just fine for a little snack!

OK, I have to add here that I love shooting in manual.
I've been bad recently, really bad.
I've been shooting so much in Aperture mode and even some in...
automatic.
I'm so terrible!!!
But after switching back to manual this morning,
I'm reminded of why I love it so much.
The images are so crisp and the colors vibrant.
The very first pic was in automatic, taken by my hubby.
I think the rest are in manual.
But just to illustrate my point, the next picture
is the cropped version of the previous one.
Look at Crista's eyes.
You can see me taking her picture.
How cool is that?!
You can't get that clear and crisp shooting in automatic.
So if you're thinking of stepping away from automatic,
do it!!
Your photos will be so much better
and its not as difficult as you may think!
