Thankful Thursdays

Please watch this video below. It'll be worth your 3 minutes!
(turn on your volume so you can hear the music)

The first time I saw this video, I cried. It wasn't because I suddenly realized to what great extent we are blessed, that we have clean water, food, clothes, a home. I was already aware of the wealth this nation, our family, has. And I am so grateful for those blessings. When I saw this video for the first time, the only thing that flashed through my mind was my daughter's face. Crista, in her 2 years, has lived in two worlds. One of poverty and one of wealth. What her life would be like if she were still in Guatemala, living with her birthmother who makes only $2.00 a day. There would be no hope of an education, food and clothes scarce, and her future dismal. It breaks my heart knowing such misery exists, especially in a child's life.

Two years ago two families in two different worlds were wanting. One desperately wanting a child and the other desperately wanting more for her child than she could provide. By divine appointment, these two families became one, forever linked together by the immense love for this child. I think of Crista and what she means to Jake and me, she is our everything, our whole world! I think of what she means to her grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and even to the people in our church! Oh how she lights up the room with her infectious giggles and sweet ways.

I am so eternally grateful that the Lord has given Crista (and us too!)the opportunity to grow up in a house where there's food in the cabinets, clean water to drink, a closet full of clothes and shoes, toys to play with, and a daddy & mommy to tuck her into her bed at night. Every child should be so lucky!
