Warning: Proud Mama bragging ahead...
I took Crista in for her 18th month check-up on Friday. Its so hard to believe I have an 18 month old!! Where has the time gone??? The check up went very well and Crista is right on target for most things and even ahead of where she should be for other things! The Dr asked how many words I though Crista could say. I knew this question was coming so this past week I'd been writing down words as she said them. When I left for the Dr's on Friday morning I had 83 words on my list. When I told him that, he just about fell out of his chair! He said an average 18 month old only says between 10-20 words and Crista has the vocabulary of a 2 year old!! She's also putting words together and that really impressed him! Crista's also learning her ABC's. It goes something like this..."A, B, D, E" And she's counting everything now too. It goes something like this (pointing with one finger on each hand) two, two, two. We've got a little work ahead of us, but hey, she's only 18 months!!
The Dr. also said he thinks we can start potty training her now, which he normally doesn't recommend until 2-3 years of age! He was quite impressed with Crista's skills and thinks she's come so far in the 11 months we've had her.
Here are Crista's stats:
Weight- 22.5 lbs
Height- 32.5 in
Head Circ- 17 3/4 in
Her head is still small (which is a Guatemalan trait) but according to the Dr, Crista is "tall and skinny" for her age. That's just fine with me, that's how most of my family is anyway!
Here she is, my beautiful and intelligent 18 month old. Off to the Dr's office!
Random pictures of cuteness...
We were hit by a tornado this week. The destruction was massive, but everyone made it through ok...
Then I realized it wasn't a tornado that swept though the house, it was more like Hurricane Reese and Hurricane Crista! Caught in the act!

Do you ever watch your child at play and wonder what she'll be when she grows up?
A sweet, loving Mommy...
Or an inspirational teacher...
Or Sumo wrestler :-)
But whatever this sweet child decides to do, we'll always love and support her!
For the first time since November, I was able to take Crista outside to play. It was still much colder than I like but we both needed some excercise and fresh air. It felt so great to outside again!
I mentioned it has been a while since our last adventure out of the house. I think Crista missed the outdoors. She kept hugging the trees!
We walked down to the church and Crista went right up to the door and started calling for her daddy.
Since Daddy didn't come to the door, she decided to open it herself.
Until she realized it was locked. Then she just plopped right down on the steps. I'm guessing she was going to wait for her daddy!
This week, Crista and I are thinking along the same line...WE WANT SPRING!!! Good thing we're heading down south this week! Please have warm weather, PLEASE!!!
